Week in Struggle: November 27-December 3

This week, revolutionaries around the world celebrated the 86th birthday of Chairman Gonzalo, leader of the Communist Party of Peru and which takes place on December 3. Read our full coverage here: Revolutionaries in US and Worldwide Honor Chairman Gonzalo’s Birthday.


On November 29, in the jungle of Sukma district, state of Chhattisgarh, guerrillas of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) killed an Assistant Commander in the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), a specialized anti-guerrilla commando group of the Old Indian State, with a landmine. Seven other soldiers of the reactionary state were also injured in the explosion.

Combatants of the PLGA also stormed a construction site in Toko Dharampur, state of Jharkhand, and burned machines, vehicles, generators, and went on to destroy the entire structure on site. The construction site was targeted to fight the expansion of roads meant to serve mining and other large companies that wish to force poor peasants off their land.


Communist Party of Turkey/Marxist-Leninist (TKP/ML) prisoners at Gebze Prison released a statement commemorating their fallen comrades, killed fighting the People’s War in Dersim: “Our martyrs are our polar stars today as always, with their high consciousness. Free, they are the infallible compass of a future without class and exploitation. With this aspect, we will make our comrades Şerzan, Nubar, Rosa, Özgür, Asmin and Deniz live in our struggle in the red of the flag they handed over. We bow before them with respect, we remember them with gratitude and honor.”


Graffiti celebrating the 200 year anniversary of Friedrich Engels’ birth was documented in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campinas, and Aparecida de Goiânia, with the slogan, “Proletarians of the world unite! Long live 200 years of Friedrich Engels! Down with revisionism! Long live Maoism!”

Additionally, numerous instances of election boycott graffiti and other types of propaganda have been seen across Brazil, utilizing slogans such as, “Elections No! People’s War/Revolution Yes!”, “The Election is a Farce!”, “Don’t Vote, Fight for Revolution!”,


Periodico Mural shared the following video, depicting the painting of a large mural of Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx which read, “F. Engels, 200 Years, A specter is haunting Europe, the World, We call him a comrade.”

Activists from Current of the People Red Sun (Sol Rojo) also participated in a national mobilization of democratic organizations in which they blocked the railroad tracks in the Port of Salina Cruz, in rejection of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus, making a new call for unity in action and speaking out against harassment and repression carried out by the old state.


In Santiago, a postering campaign was carried out in honor of Friedrich Engels 200th birthday, including his picture and a quote from Anti-Dühring , as well as another larger poster reading “It is right to rebel!”


Revolutionary activists held a march in Engels’ birthplace in Wuppertal-Barmen to celebrate his 200th birthday, during which multiple clashes with police prevented the detainment of several participants. Activists also produced 200 red flags with the hammer and sickle and hung them around the town, including outside the Engels-haus museum.

Graffiti was also documented in Berlin reading, “200 Years Friedrich Engels!” In Bremen, an educational event was also held on his life and his contributions to Marxism.


As protests continue to rage on throughout the country over the new so-called ‘global security law,’ the Revolutionary Youth have been out on the streets in Saint-Étienne, Bordeaux, Caen, Rennes, and Nantes.


Graffiti commemorating the recently deceased Ecuadorian Communist, Comrade Joselo of the Communist Party of Ecuador – Red Sun (PCE-SR), was documented in Gothenburg, reading “Honor and glory to Comrade Joselo!” Other graffiti, reading “Long live Maoism,” was also seen.

United States


A large mural depicting Chairman Gonzalo leading a sea of red flags and the slogan “Siempre Gonzalo nos guiará,” was seen in Austin, in addition to other wall paintings. Elsewhere other displays of graffiti were seen reading, “US democracy is bankrupt!” and “With elections, the racists always win!”

Los Angeles

Graffiti in commemoration of the death of Comrade Joselo was also seen in Los Angeles, reading, “Comrade Joselo, present in the struggle!”

Solidarity graffiti was also seen for the recently-fallen combatants of the TKP/ML and TIKKO in Dersim, reading, “Honor and glory to comrades Deniz, Muharrem, Asmin, Nubar, Rosa, Ozgur.”
