International Day of Action Against the Indian Military Campaign ‘Operation Prahaar’

Editors’ Note: The International Committee for the Support of People’s War in India with endorsement from the Communist Party of India (Maoist) [CPI (Maoist)] called for an international day of action on November 24 against the military campaign Operation Prahaar (also referred to as Prahaar-3). The military operation is being carried out by Narendra Modi, the fascist president of India, under the direction of imperialist powers. The campaign is directed against the People’s War in India led by CPI (Maoist), which is mobilizing the oppressed masses for a revolutionary overthrow of the old Indian State. The following is a compilation of actions carried out across the world in support of CPI (Maoist) and the People’s War in India.

The Communist Party of Turkey/Marxist-Leninist (TKP/ML) released a statement on November 30 saluting the CPI (Maoist) and condemning Operation Prahaar. TKP/ML writes:

As TKP/ML, we support the People’s War led by our comrades’ party CPI (Maoist) against the Prahaar-3 operations of the reactionary-fascist state of India, and we believe that the war of the Indian people, led by our CPI (Maoist) comrades, will continue uninterruptedly and will triumph. We call for international support against the attacks of the Indian fascist state, announced by the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee in November 2021, to respond to this call, especially the MLM forces from all over the world, and to show solidarity with the ongoing People’s War in India! End the Prahaar-3 Operation, a New Process of Massacre!”


Graffiti was seen throughout Brazil in support of the International Day of Action, slogans read, “Down with Operation Prahaar!” “Long live the People’s War in India!” and “Long live the CPI (Maoist)!” Blocks of posters were also documented.

The Revolutionary Front in Defense of the Rights of the People (FRDDP, Frente Revolucionária de Defesa dos Direitos do Povo) produced a flyer for wide dissemination in support of the international campaign.


On November 24, the Defense of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador (FLDP-EC, Frente de Defensa de Luchas del Pueblo del Ecuador) published a statement in support of the international campaign against Operation Prahaar. After highlighting past struggles and victories of the CPI (Maoist), they conclude with the following:

The FLDP-EC extends a red and militant greeting to the comrades of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). To the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army. In addition, we declare total and unconditional support to the victorious People’s War.”


In Colombia, Workers’ Revolution spray painted a slogan in support of India reading, “Long live the People’s Struggles in India,” a hammer and sickle were included.


The current of the People – Red Sun echoed the call for an international day of action on November 24, writing:

Also useless will be the new counterinsurgency operation “Prahaar-3″ of the Fascist and Genocidal Narendra Modi; This new operation sponsored by imperialism is condemned to total failure. From Mexico, the we Democrats and revolutionaries respond to the internationalist call denouncing the old Hindu-Brahmanan reactionary State, condemning the repression, massacres, and terrorism of State against the People of India, we hold in high the defense of the People’s War of India, and the people’s wars of the world.”


In early November, graffiti in support of the People’s War in India and posters condemning the reactionary Indian State were documented. The posters read, “Long live the People’s War in India,” and “Modi is fascist and genocidal.” More graffiti and posters were documented on the day of action.


The Supporting Committee of the Indian People’s War in Afghanistan released a statement on the day of action, committed to building a solidarity movement with People’s War in India, stating:

[The committee] could not and will not be able to participate directly in the joint international struggle in support of the Indian People’s War. Nevertheless, the supporting Committee of the Indian People’s War in Afghanistan will do its utmost to expose and condemn the crimes of the Indian government and to resist it!”


The Support Committee to the People’s War in India-Tunisia joined the international campaign against Prahaar. The Support Committee released posters along with a statement. On November 24, a meeting was held with university students to celebrate the first victory of Indian peasants. The presenters explained the role of fascism in suppressing the peasant’s movement and counterattacking the revolutionary movement through genocide military operations such as “Salwa Judum,” “Operation Green Hunt,” and now Operation Prahaar.


On the Day of Action, revolutionaries in Copenhagen placed a banner supporting the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in front of the Indian embassy. The banner reads, “Down with Prahaar-3! Victory to the People’s War in India.”

Spanish State

The Party of Workers (ML) [Partido (ML) de los Trabajadores] joined the day of action by displaying a banner at the Indian Embassy in Madrid and putting up posters and graffiti. The banner translates to “Against fascist repression and genocide! Solidarity with revolutionaries in India!”

In Valencia, Sabadell, Albacete, Ibi, Umh de Elche, and Burgos actions were also documented for the international campaign of solidarity with the Indian people and the People’s War in India.


In Oslo on the day of action, a banner was hung over a busy highway that read “Stop Prahaar-3!” Graffiti was also seen.

Before the day of action, graffiti in Bergen with the slogans “Support the People’s War in India!” and “Long Live CPI (Maoist)!” was documented. The following day, activists distributed information about the campaign to passers-by while carrying a banner that read “Long live the masses’ fight! Stop Prahaar-3!”

Throughout the country graffiti and flyers were also seen in support of CPI (Maoist). The slogans read, “Long live the People’s War in India!” and “Support the People’s War in India! Long live CPI (Maoist),” “Forward with Communism,” and “Long live Comrade Kisanji!”


Activists in Palermo expressed their solidarity with the People’s War in India on the day of action. Graffiti was also documented with the slogan, “Long live the People’s War in India.”

In Rome, large posters against Prahaar-3 where also seen.

In Milan, activists left a large banner condemning Modi’s fascist and genocidal regime at the Indian consulate.


During demonstrations on the International Day Against Violence Against Women held in Vienna, attendees held a large poster reading, “Stop the violent attacks of the Prahaar military campaign! Supports the fighting masses in India!”


In Hamburg, graffiti with the slogan “Down with Operation Prahaar-3! Victory to the People’s War in India” alongside a hammer and sickle was seen.

On November 3 in Bremen, revolutionaries gave a lecture on Operation Prahaar. The event condemned the fascist Indian State and presented the history of the People’s War in India. Activists echoed the call for international solidarity actions with the CPI (Maoist) and against Operation Prahaar.

On the day of action, activists in Freiburg distributed information about Prahaar-3.

Graffiti was also documented in support of the campaign throughout Germany, reading, “Long live the People’s War in India! Down with Prahaar-3!”


On November 24, for the occasion of the International Day of Action, the Revolutionary Youth of Rennes paid tribute to Indian combatants waging the armed struggle since 1967 by putting up a banner stating “Support for the struggles of the Indian people – Long live the People’s War.”


In Dublin, Socialist Republicans held a demonstration in solidarity with the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The revolutionaries held a vigil at the James Connolly Statue at Beresford Place, attendees waved a flag, spoke, and put up posters. 


The Communist Workers Front (Organizing Committee) released a statement on the importance of upholding the day of action.

In the country, graffiti and posters were seen in support of the People’s War in India. 

United States

The Tribune of the People Support Committee Austin, Texas and activists in Eugene, Oregon gave speeches and held educational events on the People’s War in India on the Day of Action.

Over the past month, graffiti was seen in Los Angeles, California, and Austin, Texas, reading, “Long live the People’s War in India!” “Death to the fascist and genocidal Modi regime!” and “Long live the CPI (Maoist)!”
